We have official word that Thor 4 will indeed happen and that Taika Waititi will be back to write, direct, and hopefully voice some more Korg.
Thor: Ragnarok certainly turned fortunes around for the Asgardian after a couple of lukewarm earlier efforts. Waititi injected a hefty dose of humour and brightened up the palette to make a cosmic road trip movie that was a joy to watch.
Given how things transpire at the end of Endgame, it’ll be interesting to see if Thor and Valkyrie team up once again, it would be a shame not too, but we’re not too sure how this would work in a more logistical sense.
The announcement also comes at a time when Taika has no shortage of projects on the go, from the also recently announced animated Flash Gordon for Netflix, the imminent arrival of next movie Jojo Rabbit and sneaking in a part in Ryan Reynolds next flick Free Guy.
Waititi had also been working on the seemingly forever in development live-action take on Akira, with an aim to release 21st May 2021. Warner Bros is said to be keen to keep his involvement in the project so he may revert to that after completion of Thor’s next outing.
It should be a big week for Marvel with an MCU panel set for Sat evening at Comic Con, here’s hoping they finally lift the lid on the much-speculated “Phase 4”.
