The show opened with, basically, an advert for ‘Assassins Creed Symphony’ a world tour of all the music from the games performed by a live orchestra. Given Assassins Creed is taking a year off we’re not sure what this really has to do with anything? But a cool concept nonetheless.
On to the games…
Watch Dogs Legion
Watch Dogs Legion received its official unveiling after a slew of leaks heading into E3. The Game is set in not-so-distant future London, post-Brexit it seems…
Footage showed typical Watch Dogs fair with the player scanning NPCs and pulling up details about them. The first character we’re introduced to was very a stereotypical “East London” bald-headed gentleman giving off Jason Statham vibes. However, this guy doesn’t last long, but not before showing a self revive mechanic and some sort of invisibility. This then leads us to the unveiling of when a character reaches “permadeath” you just choose the next character in your roster and get back in the world.
So the rumoured play as “anyone” deal is legit, being able to recruit anyone in the city, play their ‘origin quest’ and they join your team. The demo goes on to show 3 other unique characters all with varying styles of play including an old lady who can slowly roll over barricades. The trailer also shows off Jon Wick-esque execution kills, riding enemy drones to enter enemy territory and team recruitment. Watch Dogs Legion launches on March 6th 2020.
“The women of Bletchley Park?! They fucking invented hacking” Quote of the night.
Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet
Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet was a legitimate part of the show that to me felt completely illegitimate. Never the less the new TV show from the guys behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and will be premiering on Apple TV+. The trailer shown didn’t give much away and wasn’t overly funny. Not much else to say here, fingers crossed.
Rainbow Six Siege
Season 13, Operation Phantom Sight was announced and starts June 11th. It got a super Kingsman inspired trailer to show off new operative Warden. Players will also be able to get their hands on another new operative N0kk.
Adventure Time X Brawlhalla
Fans of Adventure Time who also enjoy Brawlhalla have lucked out! Now they can play as their favourite Adventure Time characters such as Jake the Dog and Finn the Human in Brawlhalla. The update is available today on all platforms with a new game mode and stage to boot.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint
Jon Bernthal tried pulling a Keanu on us, and even brought his dog with him, to give some details on Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
Players will take on Jon’s team of soldiers “The Wolves” that are a team of ex-ghosts, making them the ultimate enemy. AI teammates are back for players who wish to experience the game solo. The game launches on October 4th, with a beta one month earlier on September 5th.
Apparently, Breakpoint will be built upon for “years to come”, so Ubi is potentially going the Siege route with this next entry into the Ghost Recon franchise.
Also announced was a Terminator collaboration (so that’s 2 so far this E3), not much detail was given other than clearly, Jim Cameron wants to push that new movie pretty hard.
A ‘Ghost Recon Delta Company’ community program was announced, very minimal detail though other than it exists.
Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad
Mobile game time! Tom Clancy’s elite squad was revealed and you can pre-register it now. The gameplay looked X-com…esque? Players will control a team of characters from across all the Tom Clancy titles, it’ll be available for iOS and Android at some point in the future.
Just Dance 2020
In typical Just Dance E3 style, a totally bananas dance number happened including a panda dancing with ‘The Okayest Showman’. I have no idea what happened here but there’s a new Just Dance which incidentally is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It’s coming to GBA, DS… I kid, it’s coming to PS4, Xbox One, Switch, Stadia and Wii this holiday season. No, seriously, it’s coming out on Wii.
A new limited time event is now live for For Honor fans, called Shadows of the Hitokiri, naturally focusing on the Samurai faction. The event runs from now until June 27th on all platforms.
Rainbow Six Quarantine
A brand new 3 player tactical co-op game in the Rainbow Six universe was announced. Obviously based off of last year’s zombie event, Quarantine will “be to PVE coop what Siege is to PVP”. Not much in the way of details or release just yet, but we’ll keep you updated on this one for sure!
The Division 2
This chunk of the conference began with a thank you sizzle reel aimed at the games community. Followed by the announcement the game is free to download between 13th June - 16th June.
News on the new episodic DLC content was revealed, Episode 1 is out in July will take you out of the city and into the woodlands for a “new gameplay experience”. Episode 2 coming in the fall will take you to the Pentagon and alongside it will be the second raid. Episode 3 looks like it’s taking players back to New York “on a manhunt” after a short tease.
Exciting stuff here for Division fans!
They also took the opportunity to formally announce The Division movie and that it’s being helmed by none other than David Lynch, starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal and coming to Netflix!
Ubi gave details on their own subscription service that will see their library of 100+ games become available for $14.99 a month. Alongside that users will get early access to new games including premium editions! If you sign up today, you can get free access for launch, not entirely sure what that means but we’ll update if we get some clarification.
The service will come to PC first and then roll out to Stadia in 2020.
Rollerball the video game aka Roller Champions was officially announced, despite again leaking a week or so back, and aims to be Ubi’s “Rocket League”.
It’s a new sports games where players will don their roller-skates and throw balls into a giant hole for points. An E3 demo is available on Uplay from today until 14th June!
God’s & Monsters
A new fantasy open world game by UbiSoft Quebec, the team behind Assassins Creed Odyssey, announced with a short teaser trailer.
In God’s & Monsters, you’ll jump into the world as Fenyx “a forgotten hero on a quest to restore power to the Greek gods”.
It’s coming February 25th 2020, to everything, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia and the Wii. Okay, this time we’re kidding it’s not coming to Wii.
That was all from Ubi! No Splinter Cell announcement, so overall the show was a 0/10. Until next year where we can all hope and pray Sam Fisher returns (in his own game, not the funky mobile thing they announced).
